Stressed? 5 Minutes to Relief

If your answer is yes more than 5 of the questions below, it's time to take a break.

Are you having difficulty concentrating or staying on task?

Do you have difficulty falling asleep at night?

Do you have frequent or unexplained head aches or body pain?

Do you feel like you want to escape or isolate from friends or family?

Have you changed/increased your use of alcohol, drugs or tobacco?

Do you have little or no desire for sexual activity?

Do you have irregular (premenopausal) periods or impotence (male under 65)?

Do you feel overwhelmed with your life/job/situation?

Do you get less than 6 hours sleep per night?

Are you regularly irritable, annoyed or angry?

Stop what you are doing right now and set a timer for 5 minutes.

Sit on a chair with your arms in your lap and close your eyes. Inhale slowly through your nose, to the count of 10, hold for 5 and exhale slowly through your mouth , to the count of 10. Repeat 5 times.

While you hold your breath, focus on releasing your thoughts, your fears, your pain, your insecurities. Focus on feeling your body from head to toe.

Now move your arms around your waist/chest like a hug. Repeat the inhale/hold/exhale pattern.

Focus on your warmth, What brings you joy. Your strengths. Your accomplishments. Your next goal. Slowly open your eyes and look at your surrounding.

Tighten your hug and declare " I am worthy" "I am loved" "I am able" . Give yourself a shake and start back into your day with renewed energy.
